— On Dec. 27, officers took a report at the station of a stolen cell phone. The male posted the phone for sale on Facebook. The male met with the buyer and gave him the phone in exchange for $300 from the buyer. After buyer left with the phone, seller looked at the money and noticed it was counterfeit.

-On Dec. 28, officers responded to a dispute on Princeton Avenue.

-On Jan. 1, officers responded to a Moore Street residence for a complaint by a mother who claimed her 13-year-old daughter was being stalked.

-On Jan. 1, officers received a complaint about an assault that took place on Idaho Avenue.

-On Jan. 1, officers responded to a Minerva Street residence for a criminal damaging report. The female resident showed officers damage to her front door which she believed to fresh and she believed it was the result of someone trying to enter her home.

-On Jan. 1, officers were dispatched to the police department in regards to a male who struck one of the cruisers with a large rock causing substantial damage to the front passenger fender. Upon arrival, officers heard a male who matched the description of the subject they were looking for screaming on West Fifth Street. The subject identified as Dustin Brooks was holding multiple knives which he refused to put down at first. Brooks was placed into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

-On Jan. 1, officers were dispatched to Henry Avenue due to heavy traffic.

-On Jan. 1, officers were dispatched to Henry Avenue for a report of someone walking in the woods with a large flashlight.

-On Jan. 2, an officer responded to Rite Aid Pharmacy on Bradshaw Avenue in reference to a male leaving the store with a basketful of items for which he did not pay.

-On Jan. 2, a male reported to the station that a juvenile has been staying at his residence and he just wanted to report it so he did not get in trouble with the juvenile’s mother.

-On Jan. 2, officers responded to a call reporting mud on the roadway being a hazard on St. Clair Avenue.

-On Jan. 2, officers responded to an Ohio Avenue residence in reference to an unresponsive male. East Liverpool Fire Department and Lifeteam Ambulance also responded. The male who was awake and conscious due to acquaintance administering Narcan before the officers arrived declined treatment.

-On Jan. 2, officers responded to a Harvey Avenue residence for reports of a vehicle being at the residence with subjects inside the vehicle with flashlights.

-On Jan. 2, officers responded to Highland Colony per a request from Pennsylvania State Police seeking contact information on a Christine Bangor regarding a hit-and-run she was involved in in Pennsylvania.

-On Jan. 3, officers responded to Henry Avenue for a report of suspected drug activity.

-On Jan. 3, officers responded to a disabled vehicle on Webber Way.

— On Dec. 1, police responded to Walmart on Dresden Avenue in regards to a theft complaint. A warrant was issued for the suspect who was identified through Facebook as Amanda Wright.

— On Dec. 1, officers were dispatched to Get Go Gas Station in regards to a harassment complaint.

— On Dec. 1, while on patrol an officer observed a vehicle cross over the white fog line and conducted a traffic stop on state Route 11. The officer requested a K9 officer to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and officers conducted a probable cause search which turned up a large bag of marijuana and a loaded .45 caliber magazine. The driver said there was no firearm in the vehicle. Officers issued a citation.

— On Dec. 1, officers were dispatched to Warren Avenue in regards to a male at the residence freaking out thinking that people are after him. The male admitted to doing meth and said he had not slept in days. North Star Ambulance with help from officers was able to get the subject into the ambulance. Dispatch reported to officers the subject had a felony warrant and the Columbiana County Sheriff was sending a deputy to sit with him at the hospital.

— On Dec. 1, officers responded to Walmart for a theft of a Salvation Army volunteer’s bag.

— On Dec. 2, officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on St. Clair Avenue. The male was acting strange saying he was going to the hotel to buy drugs and gave the officers all the information he had on the male dealing the drugs. The male has two felony warrants out of Sandusky who said they wanted him. He was transferred to Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department to wait for pick up from Sandusky.

— On Dec. 2, officers were called to Burger King after for a dog locked in a car for seven hours.

— On Dec. 3, officers responded to a business on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road for a breaking and entering complaint and theft of $600. After watching security videos officers arrested Anton Schafer (an employee) for breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony.

— On Dec. 4, an officer spoke to a male on the phone who reported that someone broke into his 1991 Chevy Astro Van.

— On Dec. 4, an officer was dispatched to contact a female that works at Walmart where she has a protection order against a male who was in the store while she was working.

— On Dec. 5, an officer responded to Dresden Avenue for a report of vandalism in the T.J. Maxx parking lot.

— On Dec. 5, officer while attempting to locate a missing juvenile came across Kira Price on Vale Street. The officer was aware of a secret indictment again Price and that she was wanted by the Columbiana Sheriff’s Department. Price was taken into custody and the missing juvenile was returned to her guardian.

— On Dec. 5, a female reported that her 16-year-old niece was missing from her home. A report was filed for a missing/runaway juvenile.

— On Dec. 5, officers responded to a report of a protection order violation on Moore Avenue.

— On Dec. 7, officers requested a vehicle towed from state Route 267, due to driver having suspended license.

— On Dec. 7, officers conducted a traffic stop on state Route 11. The vehicle was towed due to driver having suspended license.

— On Dec. 7, a male came into the station to report a hit and run on his vehicle which was parked on McCoy Avenue. The male stated that one of his neighbors reported the vehicle was struck by an Amazon van.

— On Dec. 8, while on patrol an officer observed a driver who he knew didn’t have a valid license and had an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office driving on Yeager Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop and asked the driver identified as Bryan Jeffries to step out of the vehicle. When Jeffries stepped out, he handed the officer a small bag of marijuana. Once the officer confirmed the warrant Jeffries was placed in custody and turned over to the sheriff’s office and the vehicle was towed.

— On Dec. 8, officers responded to Walmart for a theft totaling $84.20. Jasmine Oliver was arrested for theft after failing to scan 16 items. She was given a summons for the first-degree misdemeanor and released.

— On Dec. 8, officers requested a vehicle towed from state Route 170 due to expired tags and driver having expired license.

— On Dec. 9, officers responded to a Grimms Bridge Road residence for a disturbance call.

— On Dec. 9, an officers initiated a traffic stop on state Route 170. After running the driver’s information, the officer found out she had a warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s office. Jessica Cain was placed in custody and a K9 officer conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle. The K9 alerted on the vehicle and officers conducted a probable cause search. The search turned up a container that contained unknown pills in Cain’s purse. Cain requested medical assistance due to anxiety and PTSD. NorthStar transported her to hospital after officers issued a citation for a moving violation.

— On Dec. 10, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries on St. Clair Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle was marked as at fault and cited for no driver’s license and the vehicle was towed.

— On Dec. 11, while on patrol officers conducted a random plate check on a vehicle while stopped at a red light in the area of East Liverpool Road and state Route170. The plate check showed the vehicle registered to an Austin Alverez who has an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed Alverez was driving the vehicle and took him into custody.

— On Dec. 12, officers were dispatched to Walmart for a report of an employee finding suspected narcotics.

— On Dec. 12, officers responded to Bell School Road for a medical call on an 82-year-old male who was transported to hospital in Boardman by NorthStar.

— On Dec. 12, officers received a call from a female requesting a report be filed concerning her ex-husband’s repeated, unwanted, intrusive actions at public venues.

— On Dec. 14, officers responded to a disabled vehicle on Sprucevale Road. While attempting to exit the mobile home park a male driver had a medical episode and struck several mailboxes and stopped on top of an AT&T phone box.

— On Dec. 15, officers responded to a report of telephone harassment.

— On Dec. 15, officers responded to a report of breaking and entering at a business on state Route 70. The business owner reported the glass door to the business was shattered and there were boot prints around two motorcycles. She also stated she had an argument the day before with the owners of the bikes over not allowing the bikes to be picked up until they paid what was owed for them.

— On Dec. 15, officers stopped a car due to registered owner not having a valid driver’s license. The driver stated it was her mother’s car. Officer asked for information on passenger since he was not wearing a seatbelt. Passenger provided a false identity. The passenger identified with the last name of Aracich was arrested after a search turned up a glass jar with a clear crystal substance in it in his shirt pocket and a burnt glass pipe in the console of the car, and a paper fold with white powder inside. He was charged with drug paraphernalia and falsification.

— On Dec. 15, officers responded to Walmart in regards to a female shoplifter who failed to scan several items at the self-checkout. Susan Richards failed to scan 12 items totaling $112.53 and was charged with first degree misdemeanor petty theft and issued a summons for court.

— On Dec. 16, officers received a call in regards to a fraud complaint. Caller said they received a text message from the US Bank Fraud Department.

— On Dec. 16, officers took a report of fraud from a male who said he received a letter from the unemployment officer regarding filing benefits and he has never filed for benefits.

— On Dec. 16, officers conducted a traffic stop on state Route 7, after multiple attempts to get vehicle to stop. The driver identified as Shawn Peterson told officers he couldn’t find the identification requested and gave them his social security number. A K9 officer arrived and conducted an open-air sniff to which the K9 alerted on the vehicle. A probable cause search was performed and officers found on Peterson bags of suspected narcotics and a large sum of cash. Peterson was issued a citation for faulty equipment on the vehicle, given a property receipt for the cash and released. Future charges are pending based on test results from BCI.

— On Dec. 16, officers took a report from a male who was driving through Giant Eagle parking lot and struck a cement light pole.

— On Dec. 16, officers were dispatched to North Star Critical Care for a combative patient. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the crew that had a female in the squad that said she was dropped off by another female and left, but no one was combative.

— On Dec. 16, officers took a report at the station from a female who said her purse was stolen out of her vehicle while she was shopping at Walmart.

— On Dec. 16, officers were dispatched to a Moore Avenue residence for a suicidal male.

— On Dec. 17, officers responded to Dresden Avenue for a report of a protection order violation.

— On Dec. 18, officers requested a vehicle with expired tags be towed from state Route 11.

— On Dec. 18, an officer while on patrol was dispatched to a reckless driver on state Route 7. Officer found an active warrant for the driver Christopher Slasor through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Slasor was placed under arrest.

— On Dec. 19, officers received a call in regards to possible drugs found at a business on state Route 170. Caller noted that while cleaning the bathrooms she found a bottle with crystal substance in it under the rug she moved.

— On Dec. 20, officer took a report from a male who stated he lost his brown wallet at Walmart. The wallet had his credit cards which had charges on them he did not make.

— On Dec. 20, officers responded to Walmart for a male shoplifter. Brian Pugh who was charged with felony theft, fifth degree, failed to scan and pay for 75 items totaling $1,175.37.

— On Dec. 20, an officer while sitting stationary ran a random check on a license plate that didn’t come back to any record on file. The officer conducted a traffic stop, the driver said he didn’t have a valid license and the license plates didn’t belong to the vehicle because he just bought it. The officer recognized one of the occupants of the vehicle as Bobbi Wilson who had an active warrant through the sheriff’s department. Officer noted he could smell marijuana from the car. A probable cause search was conducted and syringes were found in Wilson’s bag. The driver was issued a citation and Wilson was taken into custody.

— On Dec. 21, following a traffic stop, officers had a vehicle towed from state Route 11 because the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license.

— On Dec. 21, during a traffic stop on state Route 170 for equipment violation, the driver identified as Daniel Riggs gave officers consent to search the vehicle. The search turned up two burnt pipes with Chor Boy. Riggs was placed under arrest for drug paraphernalia and issued a summons.

— On Dec. 22, an officer stopped a vehicle for having little to no license plates light on state Route 11. The driver admitted to having no license and consented to a search of the vehicle which turned up a small baggy of suspected marijuana and a small baggy of marijuana roaches. The driver was cited.

— On Dec. 23, an officer stopped a vehicle for only having one working headlight. Officer was given consent to search vehicle nothing was found in vehicle but passenger admitted to having marijuana on his person. The driver was cited for headlight violation and passenger was cited for possession of marijuana.

— On Dec. 24, an officer took a report by telephone from a male who claimed his brother stole a Lanzer Max Pro black and silver amp from his residence on Nov. 23. The male stated he did not report it sooner because his mother was supposed to get it back, but he has not yet received it.

— On Dec. 24, officers responded to Puritan Avenue in regards to a fare failing to pay Tri-State Cab driver $10.75 cab fee. Scott Shreve was arrested and charged with theft of service, a first-degree misdemeanor.

— On Dec. 24, officers conducted a warrant check for Tonyea Vandyke on Wyoming Avenue. Vandyke had a felony four warrant through the Ohio State Highway Patrol for smuggling contraband into prison. Vandyke answered the door and was taken into custody.

— On Dec. 26, officers observed a vehicle registered to Ray Fisher parked at Coaches Bar. Fisher was known to have an expired license along the possibility of having an active warrant for menacing. When Fisher began to drive his truck onto state Route 170, the officer initiated a traffic stop where the officer noted slurred speech and an odor of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet during test. Fisher was arrested for OVI and also cited for expired license.

— On Dec. 29, officers conducted a traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot after the officer observe the driver swerve his vehicle all over the road. The driver was having a medical issue and NorthStar Ambulance responded and transported driver to hospital.

— On Dec. 29, an officer responded to Ruby Drive for a vandalism report. Residents reported someone struck their mailbox and left the scene.

— On Dec. 30, officers responded to Walmart in regards to a male shoplifter who wouldn’t stop for the loss prevention officer. The officer located the male in the parking lot. Loss prevention reported observing Heath Long grab several items from the store and then return them in order to get cash for the items. He then grabbed two other items and walk out of the store without paying. The items totaled $258.99. Long was arrested and charged with petty theft.

— On Dec. 31, officers responded to a call of suspicious activity on Stagecoach Road. Caller reported he could hear people talking outside his bedroom window.

— Lisa J. Mountz, 62, Columbiana, was charged with obstructed view and possession of drugs following a traffic stop at 8:57 p.m. Jan. 2 on state Route 45 north.

— Alex O’Rourke, 23, Lisbon, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop on state Route 154 at 2:42 a.m. Dec. 31.

— James David Schmidt, 39, North Lima, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on state Route 154 at 1:01 p.m. Dec. 30 in which drug paraphernalia was discovered.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Lincoln Way at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 25 in reference to a water line break inside an apartment building. Officers found the leak was coming from the second floor bathroom. The Lisbon Fire Department responded and turned off the water and electricity.

— A West Pine Street resident reported at 4:24 p.m. Dec. 24 that her mother drove off with her clothes in the vehicle. She was advised the matter is civil and no crime had been committed.

— Officers responded with medical personnel to Applegrove Apartments at 4:17 p.m. Dec. 21 to assist with a fall victim. The victim was ultimately transported by ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital.

— Kevin Ray Dopp, 32, Lisbon, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to his home at 6:12 a.m. Dec. 21 in reference to a domestic dispute.

Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was called at 4:07 a.m. Sunday to the Columbiana County Jail after a report of contraband being found. The case and contraband were turned over to the county Drug Task Force for further investigation.
